Below are some comments from participants in the Long Branch Triathlon Series

Great job this weekend! Event was terrific. Give thanks to the police officers on the course. They were great.  Pete

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you and your entire crew for a wonderful time this past Sunday.  This was my first triathlon (I completed the long course), and it was awesome.  You were right in your email and intro on the beach... I'm hooked.  As soon as I got home, I called up the shop where I rented my wetsuit and told them to charge the full suit to my credit card because I was hooked!!!  I already signed up for the War at the Shore, and will probably run in the last one at the end of September (I'll be on vacation for the late July race).
Everything was perfect on Sunday; it was very well organized; your volunteers were extremely kind and helpful; the extra cops along the course were a plus and the weather was perfect.  I organize events for my company (group dinners, golf outings, etc.) and I know the amount of effort required to pull off an event.  I can't imagine how much time you put into these races; from getting routes, sponsors, food, shirts, caps; down the the little things we all take for granted like setting up the bike racks and dropping off/picking up the signs.  It's a tremendous effort, and us beginner triathletes owe you a debt of gratitude.  Without these races, some of us may never work up enough courage to participate in a triathlon.
Thanks again for all the hard work, it is much appreciated.  And thanks again to your crew for a perfect event on Sunday.

Best Regards,
MW

First of all I want to say thank you so much for your tri's this summer....i loved doing them and had a ton of fun....i did the July, Aug and Sept ones...and each time i brought a friend....next year i'd love to do all four!   Thanks again for all your hard work!   See you next summer! G. K.

Today was my first triathlon attempt. Thank you for an extraordinary experience. Please extend my appreciation to all the Sandyhookers who worked so hard to make this terrific event possible.  Great job!!  I think Im hooked!  Kerrie

we really enjoyed it, my sister had done tri before, but first time for me  - happy just to finish, last one out of the water, hit by wave, but really enjoyed the day. Beautiful setting. We'll be back next year! Thanks again. Ann

Thank you for a great race season - I did my first two tri's with you, then Skylands on the 17th and then your last one on Sunday.  I'm hooked and have agreed to do the Timberman 1/2 next summer with my friend B. K., so thanks so much. It's a great way to introduce people to the sport.-J. S.

Hi and again thank you for the event on Sunday, you and your staff do a great job and I am already looking forward to next year and to destroying my time from this past week.    Thanks again and have a great ski season.

 Kind Regards  Frank

I did the one in august and sept. Again, both great events and well organized. I hope your experience in LB ( Pier Village) was positive and the events will continue next year. I am going to join the club so I can stay " in the loop"  thanks for coordinating   Pete

Thanks to you and your wonderful volunteers for making this a shore happening place to be. in spite of my broken elbow - chain came off and oopps-it was and always has been a blast. thanks to the people who asked if i was okay and the cop who wanted to sum an ambulance. marianne

Well I didn’t think I would like the new venue since I hate what Long Branch did to their roads,  BUT it was fabulous, especially bike route, much more interesting.  I brought many women with me who are doing their first tri in Sandy Hook (Danskin).  They were immediately hooked and we will be back next month even stronger.  Look for the “101” team.  Mary

Thank you so much!
By the way, that location is outstanding and the race was run perfectly!
Thanks for all your work!   Beth

Hello,
I just wanted to write and thank you for hosting such a wonderful
race!  I have done two of these sprints, one in Sea Bright last summer
and one in Long Branch and am so impressed with how supportive and
organized theses races are.  You really capture a relaxed yet
competitive attitude that is very rare in this sport!  So thank you for
a wonderful series, and I plan to bring two newbies to the next sprint!
Regards,    Melissa N.  6/25/06 event

Thanks for a great race! I echo the kudos on a great location and think everything was great! The first tri for the season is bound to have a few minor kinks, especially with a new location. I think you did a great job and look forward to the next race.

Again, I appreciate your efforts along with everyone else who made this a success! Kindly pass on my sentiments to the others!   Sincerely -Paul B. T. New SHTC member :-)  6/25/06 event

Thanks for putting together a great race.  It was my first one (2nd if you count the one I did in 1984 when I was 17) and I had a blast.  The course was well marked and those great volunteers and Police were all around to make sure we stayed on course.  Also many thanks to whoever took those pictures.  I got a great shot of me walking down the steps towards the beach that I now use as my wallpaper.

Thanks again for a great time, it was a blast.   Best regards,  Charlie H.  6/25/06 event

Today was my first Tri and I am hooked.  This is thanks to you and your staff for running such an organized race.  I look forward to the future races and am already counting the weeks to the July event.  Thanks again, Brian.  6/25/06 event

Great job with the triathlon this year.  This was my first year doing it and had a great time!  Now I'm hooked and will be back for all next year!  Best regard,  Mike A  6/25/06 event

It was a great race!  Thanks for coordinating everything as usual.
I did last years (August Race) and I liked the set-up much better than last year.  It seemed much easier to follow.
Thanks again and have a great winter! Kind regards, Deidre  6/25/06 event

Great event yesterday I just want to say thanks. Andy K.  6/25/06 event

HI!
I just completed my first Sprint Triathlon today (your last of the season), and wanted to thank you for making it so easy.  Everybody, the staff and participants, were all so nice and helpful . . . it was so great. I had been agonizing about trying one of these since last summer and finally did it. As it turns out, my front wheel was on wrong, and I rode that whole ten miles with the front brake on and didn't even realize it, so next year I'll be even better!
Thanks again.--Larissa
Thank you very much for an unbelievably organized race and a perfect day.
Sincerely,  Bob K.

This was my first season of Tri's and I really enjoyed the 'practice' races. I hope everything works out for next years events.. Thanks, Ernie G.

THANK YOU! It was an absolutely wonderful season. As a beginner I have seen my times go from 1:17 to 1:16  to1:13 to 1:08. I wish we had one more this season so I could get close to 1 hour (yeah right). I am hooked and have my sights on an Olympic Tri next season. Keep up the good work and I look forward to another great season in 2006.  G.R.

Thanks very much to your group for continuing to put this on.  Especially in spite of the unfortunate difficulty you get from local business.  Keep it up.  It is a great event.  Regards,  Keith D.

This was my first triathlon.  I want to thank you for making it such an enjoyable experience. Your directions prior to the start of the race where clear, complete and very, very helpful.  I knew what to expect and what you expected from me.  This email with reminders of what to bring and more details served me well.  Each person who served at the check in table, passing out water during the race and giving out food and encouraging words at the end of the race did an outstanding job of being others focused.
Thank you for the way this event was planned and carried out.   I hope I can have the pleasure of participating in another one of the triathlons that you host.
Sincerely,  MM , Gaithersburg, MD

Sunday was my second time and all I can say is I am hooked. You guys make it easy to break the ice. Don't know how to say thanks. It has been a huge positive in my life. Ill see you in September.   Thank You   S.S.

I am 20 years old and completed my first triathlon at Sea Bright. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience! The volunteers and staff were great! I am already planning out future triathlons! Take care. KVD

I didn't register my times "actually I didn't keep any time". That was part of the appeal to me was the idea of just "doing it".  This was my first tri in 20 years, I'm 50 now. I thought the whole event was very well run and the focus was on participation. I have already registered for the September event, we have a summer place in Asbury Park so it's a perfect location for me.
After about 20 years of mostly biking and a bit of running it's great to be cross training again. I used to be a swimmer in high school. I jumped into the last group at the beach. In September I'll probably move up a bit to get with some of the faster "old guys".
Thanks again. I just wanted you guys to know that the event is unique "low key", well run and helps people get back into a overall workout program.   Best Regards,   Dave

Wanted to let you know this was my first Sea bright tri and it was GREAT!!!. I am brand new at triathlons (3rd) but your event inspired me to want to continue to compete and improve my times. Thanks a lot!!!  H. P. Weehawken NJ

To All Involved,
Great Race!  I traveled down from Staten Island and had a great time.  I
plan to do it again.  Can't wait until next year when I can compete in all
of the races.   Thanks again.  J. B. Staten Island NY

Had a great time!  Looking forward to next years events.  Dan, Mahwah NJ

What a pleasure it was to be a part of this splendid day!!! My children were able to complete this event with my husband and I and we are so proud of them!!!! A special thank you to Monica...not sure what her last name is...but she was very kind and supportive of our family throughout the entire race!!
Many thanks and we will see you again next summer!!!!   C.. G. and family

Doug, You guys do a remarkable job! Thank you for making it all happen! Marianne, Colts Neck NJ

Thanks for organizing. I'm hooked and I'll be back. A lot of real nice people volunteering.   J. M.

Thank You so much, it was my first Tri and I loved it.  Everyone was so helpful and supportive, it was a wonderful experience!     Thanks,  Rebecca

Thank you so much for a great first race experience!  I can't believe you were able to be so well organized with such a low entrance fee.  Your volunteers were superb and extremely helpful.      Cheers,  Mark

I really love the races you folks put on.  if I lived anywhere near the beach, I'd definitely be a member.   cheers - mike

Thank you for a terrific first Tri experience!  Starting from the online instructions and email through guidance during the event, your club really helped out a rookie like myself.  I'm thinking about returning in August to
see if I can improve my overall place!          Thanks,Matt J.

I am a member who lives in Philadelphia, and I can tell you that I love these events so much, that I am willing to start my drive an hour earlier (4am!) to participate in them.
Hopefully it helps you to know that you have a very loyal following.  If you can think of a way for me to help from down here, definitely let me know!          Best regards,  L. T.

The June triathlon was my first ever, and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate everyone's effort in making it a great event and a great first experience for me.  I also am now a Sandy Hookers member because I signed up for the series which I intend to complete     Anyways, thanks again for all your hard work.  I'm hooked!   M. C.

I was a first timer, everyone was super nice and helpful and I'm looking forward to the next race!   B.M.

Thanks for all your efforts!  I brought 13 new triathletes to the June race.  They were 13-16 years old, and are year round swimmers.  They did well and want to bring more of their USA swimming friends to the Sept. tri.  It was a great sense of accomplishment for them all.      D.F.

Thanks for the note on this, and honestly I thought it was a great event.  The weather was perfect, and I
thought it was well organized, and a great race.        D.M.

A quick note of thanks to you and all the Sandy Hookers. I've been doing Tri's for 7yrs and I think your race is fabulous. The number of Father & Son, Mother & Daughter or entire families doing the race is awesome to see and I can't wait to get my own son involved. I grew up in Monmouth Beach and now live in Long Island, but I try to make it down for at least one race per summer. I often recommend your race to first timers and they love the experience. Sea Bright is a beautifully simple town and your race attracts people from all over the tri state.        S.O.

Thanks for a great event yesterday. It was my first tri and I had a
great time. Everyone there, from registration to the police officers,
couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and I really appreciate the
effort you guys went to for us. Please extend my thanks to everyone
involved.   I hope to see you again later this summer.  E..L..

Just wanted to say thank you for yesterday.  It was my first triathlon and your pre-race talk, the words of encouragement from your support team as I came out of the water plus your cheering as I crossed the finish line really helped!  I'm feeling very proud of myself today - thank you!  Congratulations on growing the event from its early beginnings of 5 people.   Regards O.S.

This was my first triathlon that gave really good experience with nice environment.  Hope everything goes fine and the race should be going on forever.  Wish good luck to Doug and all Sandy Hookers.        KwanJin.  Y.

I just wanted to say thanks for yesterday – I had a terrific time at my first tri experience.  You do such a great job organizing and running things – I’ll definitely be back next year.  Thanks again – you’re all terrific!   Alice D

I had always wanted to do a tri, this was my first year, I was able to do both the Aug and Sept events.  The club does an excellent job organizing and running the event.   This was just what I was looking for to get some experience.  I am looking forward to next years races.  Thank you,    Ron M

I finished my 2nd tri this morning thanks to all of you at the group.  You put on a wonderful event where it is not embarrassing for us rookies to get into the sport.  Today's bike ride was excellent.  You should consider keeping it for all of your events.  Thanks again.

 Robert V.   Teaneck, NJ

The last mini-tri was a great turn-out and also a wonderful experience for
the person I am training for the Danskin tri, which is on the same Sunday
and your next Sea Bright event.  I will be supporting the person I am
training that day, but hope we both get another great day for racing.
Take care,  Toni

I just wanted to say that I really enjoy the Sea Bright triathlons and I
think that you guys do a great job.  I can't wait to finish the last one
on the 19th.  Thanks again!    Mike

Thanks for putting on these races, Doug. Your August race was my first tri
and I had a fantastic time, even though I nearly drowned (it was my first
ocean swim -- I've never even waded in the ocean! Turns out it's quite
different from the pool :)
I'm doing Skylands (I'd better learn to swim in the next week or so!) but
I'll be looking for you next year!
Thanks again,   James E

See you on the 19th. Thanks for providing these awesome events. The growing
turnout is really amazing and a testament to the quality event you provide.
Jay

I finished my first sprint tri in August and I just wanted to say thanks
for the great job you and your club provided.  It was well organized and a
great stepping stone into a very intimidating sport.  I finished with a
1:14 min total, which I guess isn't that bad.
MC   Jersey City, NJ

Just a quick note to say thank you for organizing the Sea Bright Tri series.
My boyfriend and I decided back in March that we wanted to try our hat at a
triathlon, and he found information about Sandy Hookers online. We used June
as a swim warm-up, July as the bike/run warm-up (due to the weather), and
this August we completed our first triathlon with flying colors! We couldn't
be happier - or more proud. We were both competitive swimmers growing up,
casual bikers and less than average runners. However, the tri series has
really helped us expand our interest and enthusiasm for the sport, and now
we're hooked. We'll definitely be seeing you guys again next year (we can't
make next weekend)- maybe as a training/practice round before we attempt an
Olympic distance!    Best wishes,    LT    Philadelphia, PA

Dear Doug,
First off I would like to thank you and all the members of the Sandyhookers for  your efforts in todays triathlon.  I am 54 years old and this was my first triathlon.  A little over a year ago I was 130 lbs heavier and walking 2 miles was a workout.   Today was a very special day for me.  I especially appreciated all the encouragement from  the workers and the other participants.  As a District Administrator for the Point Pleasant School System I know how much coordination and effort go into an event like this. Thank you for making a first timer feel welcome and a part of this event.  I think I'm going to sleep pretty good tonight.  See you on the 21st.
 RP

The Sea Bright Tri was my very first- and I did get 'hoooked'!
Did my second in Pleasanton, Ca on Aug 17th- now I have a coach and all!
Thanks- it was so much fun to come home and do my first right on the same beach I hung out at growing up on the jersey shore.
Keep me on the list for next year- will definitely come home for it!
Thanks   JA             Walnut Creek, CA

I just wanted to say thank you for a great time on the 21st.  I wish I had decided to give triathlons a try earlier in the season so I could have come to more.  I just wanted to say thank you for organizing the event.  It was coordinated very well and had great volunteers working it.  I look forward to coming to them next year.
PL

thank you. Wow, this is the definition of a successful start-up. Is there any chance that the sprint can turn into an olympic distance event ?   Tim

Thanks much for putting this race on every month. I live in Huntington, Long Island but grew up in Monmouth Beach. Visiting mom and getting in a great workout with the Sandy Hookers, really made my summer. It's a casual but competitive race and probably the best venue for first timers that I've seen in four years of racing.
See ya next summer,   S.O.        PS....Mom loves the t-shirt!

This is my 1st season in tris and your set up has been one of the
funniest and self challenging. :+)  Keep it going.           JW  Kearny
