Parking Change! Parking lot to the left of entrance ( the dirt lot that many usually park) will be charging now. They will open at 5:15am and customers will pre-pay $5 dollars and must exit by 10am or be subject to an additional charge of $5 upon exit. Other spaces are available at Pier Village at no charge, but spaces are limited. There is also a parking garage for those without roof racks.

Run Course Changes 3 Mile turn around north end not at end. 5 Mile North end further up.

South Turn-a-round just prior to snack stand on south end, both runs the same at south end.

New! Mile 1 mile and 3 mile (for 5 mile run) will be as you pass the finish line going south. Exactly one mile south, turn around, then final mile back, so you can get your splits

Mandatory meeting at 6:25am on the beach.

Long Course Swimmers will walk down beach after meeting. Short course stay to the right of buoy line. We usually go off in several heats. Slower swimmers wait and go in one of the later heats. You keep your own time so it doesn't really matter.

Enter the water and stay close to shore, no need to go far out. Swim until you see the buoy, go around buoy and straight in to shore. If you are not comfortable, get out, it’s ok, you can continue to do the rest of the event. No one will be disqualified.

Around the last buoy, and in to shore. Get on your bike and out of parking area at traffic light, head South on Ocean Ave. There will be a police officer to guide you through the traffic light at the entrance to the Beach Parking area. No other lights will be monitored.

Please NO SPECTATORS in Transition area. Stay clear so athletes can see.

Helmets are required. If you do not have one please ask before the race, we will try to find you one. Never bike without a helmet.

Be careful of the traffic going out of and into the parking area, make sure you look to the left and take it slow. Please do not draft other cyclists, it is an individual sport.

REMEMBER THE ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC

ASSUME THEY DO NOT SEE YOU

You must abide by the rules of the road at all times. Stay to the right at all times except when passing, announce that you are passing on the left before approaching biker. Never pass on right.

Please do not just fly through the traffic lights or stop signs. Better to stop and proceed with caution. If you have to stop, look at your watch and deduct your time.

Stay on right side of road at all times.

Remember this is a practice race and we can not obstruct the normal flow of traffic. Do not yell at cars, be patient, it will only take a second for them to go by. Save your energy for the straight a way. Volunteers will be at turns to help you see, but you are responsible for making the turn safely.

Please do not draft other riders, you can’t do it in other triathlons, don’t practice it here.

DO NOT ride in the middle of the road. Proceed into parking area slow.

Seconds don’t count, your safety does.

After finishing, please pick up a card, come to the scoring table, fill out you name and time, splits if you have them, and hand them to the scoring people. Please write carefully so we can read them.
